Opinion: Who was at Fault??

If you watched the race this past weekend you probably watched the fiasco between Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards and Clint Bowyer. If you did not see it I will set up the events. Clint Bowyer came off the corner with Tony on his outside and ran out of room, almost running Stewart into the wall (he brushed it). Tony retaliated by running into Bowyer sending him spinning into Edwards. Of course, this pretty much ruined the chances of Edwards and Bowyer making the chase. As you can imagine, Edwards was not happy with this, and made sure Stewart knew it. Later spinning Stewart on pit road (this was after Stewart gave Edwards the one finger salute). The fireworks continued after the race with all three sides sharing words. Now, who do you think was at fault for this situation, and was the penalty given to Stewart during the race stiff enough?

Two Times A Charm For Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin dominated Pocono for the second time this year. Hamlin not only won both races but did so both times from the pole position. Other than Hamlin's domination, the race had more than its fair share of fireworks. Just ask Clint Bowyer and Carl Edwards. Both drivers wanted to have a few words with Tony Stewart after the race. This after Stewart ran into Bowyer which sent him spinning into Edwards. With the bad luck Edwards may have seen his chance of making the chase come to an end. Other drivers with top five runs included Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers and Kevin Harvick.

Opinion: Yates Racing

Many of you are aware of the recent struggles in performance of Yates Racing. With Dale Jarrett and and the rumored departure of Elliott Sadler from Yates Racing this leaves two high profile rides open in 2007. In your opinion who will be filling these seats for Yates Racing and will the team find success next year?

Pickem: Pocono

It was just few weeks ago that Denny Hamlin picked up his first career victory at the paper clip track. This week a few drivers hope to make up for disappointing weekends at New Hampshire (Tony Stewart, Dale Jr.). The time for drivers trying to make the chase is running out, meaning that a bad run at this track could end those chances. Drivers such as Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch have to run good because a mistake will surly end their bid to make it. Others like Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr could slip out with bad runs.

My Pick: Kasey Kahne

Kyle Busch Picks Up First Win of 2006

Kyle Busch had a strong car all day long in New Hampshire. In the end Kyle beat full mileage and a hard charging Carl Edwards to pick up his first win of the 2006 season. Some drivers found trouble at Loudon, including Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Both drivers dropped a few spots in the points with their bad luck, with Tony feeling the effect the most, dropping out of the top ten in points. The rest of the top five included Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick.

Opinion: Open Wheel Drivers to NASCAR

Over the past weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, Chip Ganassi Racing unveiled their new driver for the #42 Havoline Dodge team next year, Juan Pablo Montoya. Montoya comes from the Formula 1 Circuit and before that had great success with Ganassi in the CHAMP Car Series, winning several races, the Rookie of the Year award, and the Indy 500 in his first year.

Also this weekend, Danica Patrick's father (and Business Manager) was hanging around the garage in Chicago feeling out interest in the NASCAR circuit. He has made it no secret that he would like to see his daughter driving in NASCAR. Not only for the exposure of the circuit, but also the money that would come along with it. Just yesterday, however, it was reported that Danica is not in favor of this move and would prefer to stay and focus on Indy Racing. But her contract is up at the end of this year, and the old saying is "money talks."

So, my question to you is, what is your opinion on all of these changes? Do you think we will see more open wheel drivers try to move into NASCAR? Do you think Montoya will enjoy success in NASCAR? If you were Danica Patrick, would you consider a move to NASCAR at this time when your value is still pretty high for someone never to win a race? It's no secret that NASCAR is pushing a diversity iniative and bringing in the likes of Montoya and possibly Patrick would be a big feather in their cap, so to speak, in regards to diversity.

Let us know your thoughts on any and all of these issues. Great response on our last opinion piece, so keep on posting your comments.

Pickem: Loudon

Tony Stewart took the checkered flag here last year. A few drivers need a good run to secure their spots within the top 10, while others hope that bad luck spares them. A few drivers that could find their way to victory lane include Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon.

My Pick (Yep): Matt Kenseth

Opinion: Did Jeff Gordon purposely Spin Matt Kenseth?

Look, yes Matt Kenesth was blocking but what else can you expect..its racing. The point is to beat the driver behind you or pass the one in front of you. So, blocking, like bumping (not ramming), is part of racing. Now...in my opinion...Jeff Gordon had the quicker car and it was only a matter of time before he got a good enough run and passed Kenseth. With that said..Gordon clearly had no problem dumping the #17. Yes, Kenseth got lose underneath Casey Mears (because of his car fading) resulting in him getting off the gas but Gordon saw this, but the opportunity to send him spinning was to good. So, my point..Gordon could have gotten off the gas, waited till Kenseth passed Mears and then drove by him. And to address the blocking..there is only so much racetrack to block and Kenseth clearly wanted the bottom, even that would not have mattered..Gordon was strong up top aswell...so...

What do you think?

Jeff Gordon Gets Chicagoland Win After Questionable Move

Jeff Gordon spun Matt Kenseth with four laps remaining to pick up his second win of the year. After the race Gordon insisted that it was not on purpose, and of course Matt Kenseth disagrees. Kenseth went from running 1st to finishing 21st. Not only that, with the spin, Gordon helped his teammate Johnson retain the points lead. Other drivers with good runs included Jeff Burton, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Dale Jr.

Pickem: Chicagoland

Last year Dale Earnhardt Jr. stole a victory with a late daring pit move. With the chase getting closer this year should be no different with some drivers taking risks in order to get a better finish. Tony Stewart looks to remain on top following last weeks win, while other drivers like Greg Biffle and Jeff Gordon try and get back in the top ten in points.

My Pick: Jimmie Johnson

Tony Wins Second Straight Pepsi 400

Tony Stewart waited till the right moment to take the lead in route to his second Pepsi 400 win at Daytona Super Speedway. Stewart has had a rough few weeks..so this win could get the #20 team on the right track heading into the chase. Other drivers with good runs included Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Boris Said and Matt Kenseth.
