Opinion: Who was at Fault??

If you watched the race this past weekend you probably watched the fiasco between Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards and Clint Bowyer. If you did not see it I will set up the events. Clint Bowyer came off the corner with Tony on his outside and ran out of room, almost running Stewart into the wall (he brushed it). Tony retaliated by running into Bowyer sending him spinning into Edwards. Of course, this pretty much ruined the chances of Edwards and Bowyer making the chase. As you can imagine, Edwards was not happy with this, and made sure Stewart knew it. Later spinning Stewart on pit road (this was after Stewart gave Edwards the one finger salute). The fireworks continued after the race with all three sides sharing words. Now, who do you think was at fault for this situation, and was the penalty given to Stewart during the race stiff enough?

Well, Tony should have held his temper into check, even though Bowyer did run him close to the wall.

I guess I can add my opinion. I think Tony should have let the hand gesture show his frustration and left it at that, instead he ran Bowyer into Edwards. Taking a harmless Edwards out of the race and the chase. Saying that, the action by Edwards may not have been the best but could be understood considering his anger. Of course, this is not the first time we have seem these measures by Stewart.

I have officially lost all respect for Tony Stewart. How big of an arrogant @$$ can you be? Here is why this is the worst event in NASCAR this year.....
1. Tony Stewart blatantly wrecks two cars and the penatly did nothing to harm his position in the points.
2. He boasts on T.V. about how great he is like he can teach Bowyer and Edwards something. He made no apologies for what he did... not even to Edwards.
2. Carl Edwards lost any chance of making the chase.
....NASCAR needs to be tougher in a situation like this, especially from a repeat offender (e.g. Tail end of the longest line + one lap or even two laps). Mark my words, this will come back to haunt Stewart. I say Stewart does not make the Chase this year. Karma will come for you Smoke.

I think it's obviously Tony's fault. If you watch a race, there are going to be multiple occasions when a guy gets loose or bumps into another guy unintentionally. For some reason, Tony seems to think that everytime someone touches him, it's on purpose and he needs to "get them back."

I can understand the frustration part, with him trying to hold on to a spot in the Chase, but to get that mad and deliberatly make a left hand turn into Bowyer's car and then pretty much ruining Edward's chances for a good day.

On point I will disagree on a little is that this one incident ruined Edwards' chances in the chase. They give you 26 races to put yourself into a position to get into the top 10. If this one race was that crucial to him making or breaking, then to me, he's had the prior 20 races or so to put himself in a better position. I don't think you can look at one race as knocking a guy out or not, it's what you do over the course of the first 26 races collectively. Just my opinion though.

Here is my point. In the first twenty races, Carl struggled just to get into that position. Yeah, that one race does not cancel those other nineteen races. However, in those first races, Carl never did anything to cross Stewart. Now, one bonehead move put the nail in the coffin that admittedly, Carl had built for himself. Here is where Carl and Tony messed up. When Carl retaliated, he COULD have put someone else in danger. Carl apologized for what COULD have happened. When Tony did it, he DID endanger another driver. He never apologized for what he DID do. Oh yeah, in a statement he took responsibility, but I never heard an apology. I just wish Carl had left him bleeding in the track. Both these guys do need to be more considerate when their fueds involve other drivers.

Stewarts my driver, so I can not say its all his fault. Bowyer did almost run him into the wall but his re-action was not the best one.

I think you both are right on that..Carl did have the beginning of the season to get in a better position but still, I don't think he deserved what happened to him. Unfortunately those things occur in racing
