Hey I had to sign up for eaglepost again today. I got through that obsticle course only to find out that they've moved. Will sign up later i guess.

Like I said in a post earlier:

These guys have the best chance at getting over the hump.....
Ole Miss is pathetic.
State hasn't been good since I was in junior college.
USM has two high caliber teams on the schedule that can be beat.
Plus their C-USA schedule is weaker this year. No Houston or Tulsa..... freakin TULSA!!! AAaaARrRRgGGg!!!

This is Bower's year to shine or shut up.... just my humble opinion.

I hope Southern Miss wins Conference USA, if not they need to close down the football program

birdpoo i only see one high caliber team on Southern's schedule and that is Tennessee, i dont think they have achance of winning that game

UT-Martin
@ Tennessee
@E. Carolina
@ Boise State
Rice
SMU
@Marshall
C. Florida
@UAB
Memphis
@UTEP
Arkansas St.

maybe I am overlooking the other high caliber team unless you are referring to Boise State

well, well, well......
Ask the Sooners about Boise State.

Too bad that chicken $h!+ junior high you call a University doesn't play us in football.

Well it would just hurt the strength of our schedule (which is already weak) if we put you guys on it.

My.... my how times have changed.

I am not saying Ole Miss is better than Southern but I would say I dont think Southern would go 10-2 every year and win the SEC the way they win the Conference USA almost every year. Boise State should be good again this year since they have nothing but seniors left on the team but next year I just dont see them continuing to do what they did last year.

Lets just look at the Ole Miss schedule and see how many games Southern Miss would win.

@Memphis --win
Missouri-- toss up
@vanderbilt--Shuould Win
Florida--loss
@Georgia-- loss
Louisiana Tech -- win
Alabama-- loss
Arkansas--loss
@Auburn-- loss
Northwestern State--win
LSU-- loss
@ Miss State-- toss up

now against the teams above I would give Ole Miss the same outcome as I am giving Southern

It really comes down to money in my opinion. It would be hard for any of the MS schools to compete with the big SEC school football budgets year in and year out. I am sure you would agree with me that most of these football players are compensated in some way or the other and when you have LSU money and Florida money it is going to make a big difference. The football budgets for the big SEC schools are four times the size of Ole Miss and State's budget.

There are just too many college football teams in MS that are trying to make it on a big time level every year, think the difference in money when you go to a game at Florida, it is sold out every game and the ticket prices are much higher which turns into dollars to put back in the program. I think it sucks to be a fan of any of the MS public universities

Still, it would be nice to see one of the other MS schools step up and play us, because right now..there is nothing cool about winning the Egg Bowel. I mean back in the 90's that game had meaning, but now it's lucky to be mentioned on ESPN gameday.

Then again, could be Alabama. I'd hate to know if Saben doesn't produce.

I agree 100%.
More money in the other SEC teams usually transfers into more wins. But you guys (state & ole miss) do benifit greatly from the trickle down effect of florida, auburn, LSU, UT, and others going to bowl games. That money flows into your teams as well. We win, and yet we do not get anything like that. Doesn't that make us a better run program? If we had that kind of money trickling down to us we could be even better.

On the schedule, i agree we wouldn't do so hot in the SEC either in the first 5 years or so. But I do think with money flowing like that, and SEC quality teams playing in hattiesburg you would see a difference immediately.

The new expansion at the rock is going to look awsome, i'd post a link but i don't know how. You guys are savy enough to find it though.

Anyway, I just can't see UM or MSU climbing outta that hole. It's getting too deep. You can't change coaches every 4-5 years and get any results. Plus the money difference factor grows every day.
